Vazgen Khachikyan arrested
Vazgen Khachikyan, the former head of Armenia's Social Welfare Service, has been arrested.
The press service of the Armenian Police confirmed the information. Khachikyan is suspected of money embezzlement and fraud. He was dismissed from his post last year for reported mismanagement of a pension scheme.
Later in the day, Khachikyan was charged with Article 179 (Part 3), Article 178 (Part 3) and Article 314 of the Armenian Criminal Code (large scale embezzlement and fraud organised by a group). A petition will soon be submitted to Court to choose detention as a preventive measure against Khachikyan.
