Sharmazanov: It is a confession
At yesterday's meeting with diplomats, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that taking a look at the independence period, one can say that the abyss between Armenia and Azerbaijan has grown even more in the past 20 years.
Commenting on Aliyev's statement, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, spokesman for the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Edward Sharmazanov said
"The statement of the Azerbaijani leader is nothing other than a confession. Of course, the difference between Armenia and Azerbaijan is increasing...
In the opinion of authoritative international organizations, Armenia has been building peaceful democracy, whereas Azerbaijan is building an authoritarian state passed down from father to son. Democratic values are fostered today in Armenia, while racism and fascism are being encouraged in Azerbaijan.Moreover, the heads of the most influential countries appreciate Armenian authorities' efforts to ensure regional security and stability. At the same time they have severely criticised the anti-humanistic step of the Azerbaijani leader.
We consider the members of our national chess team as heroes, whereas they glorify a man who axe-murdered a sleeping soldier.
The difference is great indeed».
