Issue of new nuclear power station discussed
The 56th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency convened in Vienna. The Armenian delegation headed by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan attended the General Conference.
The minister made a speech on September 18. He spoke about cooperation between Armenia and IAEA, in particular about the issues related to enhancing the safety of the currently operating power unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Station, construction of the new unit, conducting «stress tests», etc.
On the sidelines of the IAEA General Conference, Minister Monsisyan met with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano. The sides discussed Armenia-IAEA cooperation, constrcution of the new power unit of the Metsamor nuclear power station, and other issues of mutual interest.
The Armenian delegation also had meetings with a number of high-ranking officials, the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign affairs reported.
