Sociologist says Kocharyan has little chance to be elected
Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan does not hurry to predict the outcome of the 2013 presidential elections. He explains his sluggishness by the possible nomination of [Armenian second president] Robert Kocharyan.
"If he [Kocharyan] knows the figures I have given, he will not run for presidency as the figures do not instill hope that Kocharyan has chances to be elected," said the sociologist.
Based on his studies, Mr. Adibekyan tried to find out the ex-president's weight and role in the political domain.
"If we place Kocharyan in the ranks of the opposition, the opposition increases in the volume. If we see Kocharyan with the ruling authorities, they turn into a mighty force. If Kocharyan remains somewhere in the middle, it is still unclear who he can rely on," he said.
The sociologist refrained from speaking about the presidential contenders and said he would wait until yearend.
