Hollande to discuss «Safarov problem»
French President Francois Hollande will touch upon the release of Ramil Safarov at the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, scheduled to take place today. According to the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News, French Armenian figure Murad Papazyan announced this, adding that some 6,000 people will participate in the protest to be staged today in connection with Alieyev's visit to France.
«The Aliyev government granted a pardon and gave material assistance to Safarov only because he had killed an Armenian. Pardoning a murderer means ignoring international law», representative of ARFD Western Europe Central Committee Papazyan was quoted as saying by the Turkish newspaper. He also expressed confidence that the Hollande government will soon discuss a new draft criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide in France.
