HHK rep.: "European Parliament only expressed its regret"
Armenia has no right to recognize the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, says Leader of Armenian Democratic Party (HDK) Aram G. Sargsyan. He brings several reasons to support his statement.
"Firstly, no one has annulled the December 1 decision on the reunification. Secondly, we have not recognized the fact that Karabakh withdrew from Azerbaijan in a legitimate way," he said.
Aram Sargsyan and Mkrtich Minasyan, an MP of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) also referred to the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on the extradition of Azerbaijani murderer Ramil Safarov.
"The European Parliament only expressed its regret. I consider it to be the result of double standards. They seem to be totally unaware of the situation in Azerbaijan," said the HHK MP.
"Today the world does not follow the moral norms and pursues its definite interests," said Aram Sargsyan.
HDK leader blames Safarov's extradition on Armenian authorities who were aware of Hungary's decision but did not take any measures to prevent the repatriation.
Both Sargsyan and Minasyan agree that the talks over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement should be temporarily frozen given Azerbaijan's present posture.
"The policy of our neighbouring country is illogical and resembles the policy of a man who is in a state of elated bliss or ecstasy," said Mr. Minasyan.
They believe that the suspension of the Karabakh peace talks will not lead to new hostilities.
"The conflict must be settled exclusively through peaceful talks. Armenia has already announced that Karabakh can never be a part of Azerbaijan," sad the HHK representative.
