Member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) Bagrat Asatryan reminds the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) that Armenians have never sympathized them.
"Your power is based on money [you have much of it], police [that usually acts beyond the law] and the criminal world," said the economist.

HHK MP Manvel Badeyan disagreed with him, saying that a large number of people had voted for his party during the May parliamentary elections.

"The reason is that marzpets (governors) usually visit village headmen before elections and threaten them with dismissal if they failed to ensure votes for the ruling party," was Asatryan's reply.

The HAK representative declined to comment on the recent elections to self-government bodies saying they are simply a waste of time and money.

The HHK MP wanted to understand the reasons for his opponent's complaint whose party did not participate in Sunday's elections.

Surprised at the self-confidence of the HHK member, Bagrat Asatryan reminded him that over 60 000 people have left Armenia in 2012.

"Maybe you want me to collect votes for you?" was Badeyan's remark.

In the end, Bagrat Asatryan reminded his Republican opponent that the Pan-Armenian National Movement (HHSh) was able to cede power in time and advised the HHK to follow suit.
