Mayor of New York City welcomes local Armenians
An open-air festival was held in the vicinity of Holy Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church in New York City on September 9. The event was attended by representatives of the local Armenian community.
Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg had sent a welcome message on the occasion. The participants gave a warm welcome to Senator Tony Avella and representatives of New York City Council.
A fair was held during the open-air festival, with the works of Armenian masters being put on display. Several dance ensembles, including "Aratsani," "Hay Par" (Armenian Dance) and Vanoush Khanamiryan Dance Ensemble, performed at the festival. The attendees were treated Armenian barbeque and other dishes.
Famous American-Armenian singer Robert Chingarian performed throughout the festival.
