E. Sharmazanov: “Be seated and keep silent, boy”
Why should Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev make a hero of a criminal who had axed a sleeping person? The question has been addressed to Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and Eduard Sharmazanov, Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly and a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HAK).
"Aliyev did it to ensure his permanent reproduction in the post of the Sultan," said Naira Zohrabyan.
"It is typical of Aliyev to ‘buy' Olympic medals, victory in Eurovision Song Contests and even the vote of his own people. That president does not have any other resource," she stressed.
The BHK MP says Aliyev does not seek to prepare his people for a new war or raise the fighting spirit of his soldiers. "The steps of the Azerbaijani President are nothing but timid actions."
Eduard Sharmazanov thinks that Aliyev pardoned [Azerbaijani officer] Ramil Safarov for domestic consumption. At the same time, he does not rule out that the pardoning aimed to encourage the Azerbaijani people and prepare them for new hostilities. But Rasmussen and other prominent figures have already told Aliyev, "Be seated and keep silent, boy, no one will allow you to undermine regional safety."
