Who supports Samvel Balsanyan in Gyumri elections?
Naira Zohrabyan, secretary of the parliamentary faction of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), says it was her party that nominated Samvel Balasanyan as a candidate for Gyumri Mayor.
"The decision was taken by the BHK's political board," she said.
While Eduard Sharmazanov, an MP from the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) states that Samvel Balasanyan was nominated by Serzh Sargsyan.
"President Serzh Sargsyan met with Samvel Balsanyan and expressed his support for him in the local elections in Gyumri. Later Mr. Sargsyan and his Republican Party discussed Balasanyan's candidacy in the meeting of the party's political board," said Mr. Sharmazanov.
The HHK representative advises not going into details and trying to find out which party was the first to back Balasanyan.
Talking to A1+, Naira Zohrabyan complained that Republican and non-partisan village heads warn villagers against attending campaign rallies of the BHK.
"They even threaten villagers to deprive them of social benefits," she said.
Eduard Sharmazanov advised his BHK colleague to produce evidence.
