Who will be Sisian's next mayor?
Three candidates are running for mayor in the town of Sisian in Armenia's Syunik marz (province). Aghasi Hakobjanyan, the incumbent mayor and a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Tigran Poghosyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun and non-partisan Hrachik Khachatryan will compete for the mayor's office during the Sept. 9 elections.
The main struggle will be between Hakobjanyan and Poghosyan.
Five candidates were nominated for the post in the beginning, with Mher Azoyan and Gevorg Bagaryan withdrawing from the race later. Besides, twenty-two candidates are contesting the eleven seats in the Elders' Council.
Seven polling stations have been formed in the town. There are 12.162 eligible voters in Sisian.
