Unprecedented developments are not expected at the upcoming local government elections. Head of Heritage faction Ruben Hakobyan expressed this opinion. Heritage Party has fielded its candidates to run in local government elections in Ararat, Shirak, Armavir, and Syunik marzes (provinces).

"As regards those places where Heritage has no its own candidate, we follow the principle of supporting opposition candidates. For example, we will support a candidate of ARFD in the city of Gyumri and other opposition candidates in the other districts," he told A1+.

According to Mr. Hakobyan, in Armenia, local government elections are held more objectively than elections at the republican level because people in small communities know each other and violations are committed less frequently.

Ruben Hakobyan did not forecast clashes between rivals at the local government elections due on September 9 and 23.

"Clashes mostly take place between people who have come to the political field from the criminal one or who received invitations from the political field so that a criminal could run in an election. A criminal mainly runs to support the authorities' candidate and has a carte blanche," Mr. Hakobyan noted.

By the way, Ruben Hakobyan also touched upon the 2013 presidential election, saying that the opposition's idea to field a single candidate is an artificial one.
