Education and Science Minister convenes consultation
Armenia's Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan convened a working consultation on Monday to discuss organization of education process for the Syrian- Armenian children who have settled in Armenia.
At the request of the representatives of the Syrian Armenian community, the participants considered the issue of establishing a new school in Yerevan accordance with the Syrian curricula.
The education process will be supervised by a person to be appointed by the Education Ministry. The issue of text-books and educational programs will be solved by the community; text-books will be brought from Syria, with Syrian-Armenian teachers teaching children in Armenia.
Armenia's Social Democratic Hunchakian party will provide financial assistance to the school.
During the consultation, it was reported that 210 Syrian-Armenian children have applied for receiving education in Armenian schools, and the Minister has instructed to enroll all these children.
"Upon their wish and choice, the Syrian-Armenian children may visit Armenian schools and receive education in compliance with Armenian curricula," said Minister Ashotyan.
The attendees also discussed the organization of education process for Syrian-Armenian students.
