After the recent earthquake in Iran, Armenian National Seismic Protection Service (NSPS) has conducted macroseismic studies in Agarak and Meghri. The studies showed that in these cities the earthquake measured 5-6 on the Richter scale.

"It means that no buildings or structures collapsed. Since most buildings are physically obsolete, cracks appeared on their walls in some places," said Gurgen Namalyan, Head of the Seismic Resistance of Buildings and structures at the NSPS of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations.
