Ombudsman staff participates in local elections
The staff of the RA Human Rights Ombudsman will provide assistance in the conduct of elections to local self-government bodies in 2012. The Ombudsman staff's regional offices set up with EU financing will be ready to respond to each alarm call and provide the necessary legal assistance. There are also 116 round-the-clock hot-lines, thanks to which citizens can request the Ombudsman to intervene.
Although this program implemented with the assistance of the EU and OSCE was envisaged for parliamentary and presidential elections only, nevertheless, taking into account its successful implementation and experience, as well as having the necessary resources, the Ombudsman staff is ready to assist citizens during elections to local self-government bodies as well, the office of the Ombudsman of the RA reports.
