The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts has dismissed the lawsuit filed by Artur Sakunts, Chairman of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office against MP Ruben Hayrapetyan.

The plaintiff demanded that Hayrapetyan make a public apology after insulting him on TV and pay as a symbolic compensation in the amount of 1 luma (one dram is subdivided into 100 luma).

The lawsuit was filed after Ruben Hayrapetyan, President of the Armenian Football Federation, made an announcement during a sport program aired by Public Television on May 25.

"When I want to build a football school in Vanadzor there is no tree and no bush in sight. I build the school on a top of a hill, but for some reason, a Helsinki son of a dog appears and sues us, the municipality and disputes the decision of the Elders' Council, and the federation as a third and responsible party. They get a few coins as grants from foreigners and discredit everything," Ruben Hayrapetyan had announced.

Neither the plaintiff nor the third party was in the courtroom to hear the verdict.

On arriving at the court, Artur Sakunts called the author of the verdict a criminal who returned a verdict against justice.

Sakunts is going to dispute the decision in the Court of Appeals.
