Syrian Consul to Armenia defected to opposition?
Syrian Consul to Armenia Mohammad Hussam Hafiz did not go to work on Monday. As A1+ Company was reported from the Embassy, Mohammad Hafez left for Syria after work on Friday and has not contacted the Embassy since then.
Mohammad Hussam Hafiz has reportedly dissented from the regime of President Bashar al-Assad and defected to the opposition, becoming the fifth senior diplomat to defect this month.
The Embassy did not give any details, saying they learnt about Hafez's decision from the press.
