A protest was held near the General Prosecutor's Office today in defense of young Armenian National Congress (HAK) activists Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan.

The participants of the action demand releasing Tigran Arakelyan and quashing the phony criminal case instigated against the youth.

Action participant, advocate Artur Sakunts mentioned that this case against the youth HAK members is political persecution against them.

The participants are currently moving toward Freedom Square, screaming "Freedom" and "Freedom to Tigran".

On July 20, Judge of the general jurisdiction court of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts of Yervan, Gagik Poghosyan ruled to sentence Tigran Arakelyan to six years in jail, Artak Karapetyan to three years in jail, and David Kiramijyan and Sargis Gevorgyan to two years in jail.

The youth are charged with hooliganism and applying force against a state authority on August 9, 2011.
