The political situation continues to remain tense in Syria. It is still unknown whether the opposition forces will manage to topple the Bashar al-Assad administration or not.

"The situation is heating up in Syria but the resolution of the conflict seems to be lingering. I do not predict any changes in the near future," political scientist Saro Saroyan told a news conference on July 23.

Hayk Kocharyan, representative of the Center for Civilization and Cultural Studies at Yerevan State University, says it is difficult to assess unequivocally the position of Syrian Armenians in the given situation; some are ready to stay in Syria and struggle for the country, others want to leave Syria.

The participants of the news conference noted that only in case of emergency should Armenian authorities organize the immigration of Syrian Armenians.

The escalation of relations between Turkey and Syria, even if it ends in war, will only contribute to allying around Assad's team, concluded Saro Saroyan.
