Nerses Nazaryan sacked or sent on vacation?
If Armenia's former interior minister Vano Siradeghyan [who is wanted by the Interpol] decides to return to Armenia, he will be arrested and taken into custody, Hunan Poghosyan, Deputy Chief of the Armenian Police, said on Friday.
When reminded that the charges against Siradeghyan stem from the case against Armen Ter-Sahakyan and his gang group which has disappeared under mysterious circumstance, the police official said international search might be declared in that connection though the police had not made an inquiry into the missing documents yet.
He also refuted the allegations about the dismissal of Chief of the Yerevan Police Nerses Nazaryan and said the latter had been sent on vacation by the order of RA Chief of Police, General-Lieutenant Vladimir Gasparyan.
"He will definitely return to work after the meeting of the Board," said Hunan Poghosyan.
Commenting on Serzh Sargsyan's statement who said during the Board meeting earlier of Friday, that ‘Armenia needs new policemen', Mr. Hunanyan said Serzh Sargsyan did not mean anyone in particular, he simply urged law enforcement agencies to prepare new staff members.
"We have brave and courteous, most importantly, honest police officers," he concluded.
