Minister receives Cardinal
On July 17, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan received Prefect of the Congregation for Oriental Churches of the Holy See, Cardinal Leonardio Sandri.
Greeting the guest, Minister Nalbandyan mentioned that the strong ties between the Republic of Armenia and the Holy See, as well as between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Vatican are at a high level and are based on the centuries-old historical ties, the Christian value system and rich cultural heritage.
Minister Nalbandyan and Cardinal Sandri attached importance to Serzh Sargsyan's visit to the Vatican in December 2011 and his meeting with Pope of Rome Benedict XVI as more evidence of the high-level relations.
The interlocutors discussed several issues related to the expansion of mutual ties and exchanged views on regional and international affairs.
