“Armenia isn’t disposed to war”
"We share the view that there is only a peaceful resolution of the conflict and that the sooner everyone accepts that, as the leaders of the co-chairing countries state, and start preparing their societies for peace, not war, the sooner it will be possible to resolve the conflict," said RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan during a joint press conference.
OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier proposes to initiate contacts between the civil societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan. "It is the duty of the sides to prepare their societies for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. It would be very nice, if all sides had that desire."
"It is necessary for both sides to refrain from attacks that will lead to further tension and dislocate the snipers from the line of contact. This was my message that I gave in Baku."
Zannier underlined that the promotion of confidence-building measures, including contacts between the sides of the conflict that the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on in Sochi, are a priority for the OSCE.
In response to "A1+"'s question, RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan particularly said how Armenia would prepare its society for a peaceful resolution. According to Nalbandyan, unlike Azerbaijan, Armenia is absolutely not disposed to war, and the whole issue is rhetoric.
According to Nalbandyan, Armenia's position on the conflict resolution falls in line with the international community's position, and that is exactly what makes Armenia different from Azerbaijan.
