Defense Minsiter knows the name of next president
No one conceals in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) that the country lacks oppositional press.
"We do not need opposition. Nor do we need oppositional newspapers," says student Arthur Hayrapetyan.
Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan holds a different opinion on the issue. In his pre-election program he presented the freedom of press as a joint achievement with the opposition.
Our interviewees failed to name a single independent media outlet in the country. The Public TV operates only 4 hours a day. Anyway, the locals are proud of their achievements.
"We have an ombudsman, active non-governmental organizations," says civil servant Narine Galstyan.
The army will also participate in the presidential elections set for July 19.
Minister of Defense Movses Hakobyan says Bako Sahakyan will be re-elected as NKR President. Meanwhile, Bako Sahakyan and his oppositional contender Vitaly Balasanyan continue campaign trips in the country.
Three candidates are running for president in the NKR. The fourth candidate has quitted the race.
