The participants of the protest action outside the Armenian National Assembly, who demand fair punishment for [Republican MP] Ruben Hayrapetyan, have tried to close the way of President of the European Council, H.E. Herman Van Rompuy, who is in Armenia on a regional visit.

The group gathered near the NA entrance at Demirtchyan street, shouting "Serzhik, go away!" However, police officers chained the entrance, impeding their further advance. There, the protesters were joined by Levon Zurabyan, Aram Manukyan and Stepan Demirtchyan, senior representatives of the Armenian National Congress (HAK).
Mr. Manukyan announced that they had urged the legislative body to convene a special sitting and create an ad hoc commission to study the matter. Heritage Party, Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) have joined the move.

The protesters are heading for the Prosecutor General's Office to demand the latter to initiate criminal proceedings against Ruben Hayrapetyan.
