The Russian language oral exam started at the Agrarian University this morning.

There is a total of 120 applicants, and 40 are taking the exam today. Chairperson of the exams commission Lilia Balasanyan regrets to mention that most of the applicants take the exam with insufficient knowledge and mentions several reasons for the lack of knowledge of the Russian language.

"The applicants lack knowledge of the Russian language due to the curriculum, the textbooks and the quality of teaching. However, we also have to realize that graduates that are fluent in Russian choose other professions," Lilia Balasanyan told "A1+".

For the first time this year, applicants can take the Russian language exam as an exam for a foreign language.

"It is a foreign language exam for applicants that aren't proficient in English and take the Russian language exam as a foreign language exam. I think this gave an opportunity to those children who have difficulty learning in a language that they don't understand too well," said Balasanyan.

As far as complaints are concerned, if the applicant isn't satisfied with the commission's response, he or she can complain.
