PM: "I regret..."
Before the government's plan was put up for a vote, Chairman of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan gave a speech in which he underlined that these discussions were especially important for him in that they allowed everyone to hear different opinions.
"I didn't like everything I saw, but for me, the important thing was that this discussion was for Armenia's development. This was truly a political debate.
I call upon everyone to approve the government's proposals and give the parliament the opportunity to support the government in solving the issues facing the people. We have the resources and the political will for that," said Hovik Abrahamyan, adding that the parliament would do everything possible to defend the government from demagogy.
His speech was followed by a brief one by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, who assured that the government wasn't perfect and that it knows very well that no plan can ever be perfect.
"I only regret to see that the deputies also made offensive remarks against me instead of discussing the plan. One of the deputies alleged that the government had presented false numbers and that I had increased my personal wealth. That allegation is not true and is aimed at defaming and discrediting the Prime Minister," said Sargsyan.
The Prime Minister also assured that he was ready to listen to and accept all political parties' comments and suggestions to make the plan a better one.
After the discussion and vote, the National Assembly continued with its agenda and also discussed the government's drafts that had been previously discussed.
