Civilitas Foundation issues statement
Press release of the Civilitas Foundation
It has already been two weeks since the Civilitas Foundation and CivilNet media have been carried away from their main mission. Instead of concentrating on our task of strengthening civil society and providing people with alternative and impartial news, we are responding to questions following the groundless criminal case for "money laundering and tax evasion".
The National Security Service has been carried away from its important mission of truly ensuring national security and has been forced to get involved in the search for some facts that are necessary for substantiating the conclusion that has been made. It is clear that all this is aimed at impeding the activities of Civilitas Foundation and CivilNet.
Throughout the past four years of its existence, the Civilitas Foundation has been implementing and is implementing programs by strictly following the Foundation's Charter and the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, and all our activities are audited on a regular basis.
Suspecting any member of the board of the Civilitas Foundation and/or any employee in the committal of a crime is an alarm to the new generation of professional and dedicated Armenians in Armenia who are aware of their responsibility and their right to participate in the governance of this country.
Generally speaking, the Civilitas Foundation doesn't accept and decries the discussion on a great benefactor like John Huntsman-a person who has been carrying out invaluable benevolent acts and making great contributions to Armenia since the country's declaration of independence. Are the Armenian authorities really ready to alienate all those people and institutions that have made great contributions to the democratization and development of our country?
The large public support that the Civilitas Foundation has been receiving these past couple of days goes to show that we will continuing our task of defending the rights of citizens of Armenia together.
