Originals seen in officials’ homes
The most common thing to do at museums in Armenia is to replace original works with duplicates. The originals are obviously either sold or found at the home of a state official.
The situation is the same at almost all museums in Armenia, and that is why acceptance and handover are almost impossible when the museum's director or depositary is replaced.
Several paintings and silver items have been lost and replaced at the "Exhibition Center" State Non-Commercial Organization. According to painter Minas Avetisyan's son, Arman, out of Minas's 9 paintings at the museum, 8 have disappeared and one is hung on the wall of Deputy Minister Arev Samuelyan's office. Arman says no criminal case has been instigated in relation to this.
