U.S. Ambassador says it’s troubling
"I would say the timing is a little troubling. What's troubling is that this is taking place in the current period of the country's politics," said U.S. Ambassador John Heffern in an interview with Radio Liberty in response to the question of how he would assess the statement by founder of Civilitas Foundation Vardan Oskanyan according to which the money laundering case instigated by the National Security Service is "clearly a political order".
"Civilitas Foundation is important for the United States and we are very interested in this case," added the Ambassador, mentioning that he was unaware of "the money, how it was spent and who did what to whom".
