HHK deputy on Oskanyan’s case
Deputy of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Artak Davtyan says it's natural for people to seek a political subtext in the criminal case instigated against Vardan Oskanyan since the latter is a political figure.
"Even the overt crimes committed in the past are directly linked to the political field because it's easy to cover up in the political field," said the deputy and mentioned that the court has the final word.
"There are facts and a criminal case based on those facts. There is also presumed innocence. Let's combine the two, be patient and follow the developments," said Artak Davtyan as he touched upon the criminal case instigated against Oskanyan's Civilitas Foundation.
The Republican deputy also touched upon the ex-foreign minister's view that the judicial system is merely a political lever for the authorities. "I think it would have been very sincere, if he had made such sharp statements during his term in office. I don't think the comparison between the judicial system that we had during his term in office and the system that we have now will be in his favor," said Artak Davtyan.
When asked about the ex-foreign minister being nominated by the Prosperous Armenia Party in the upcoming presidential elections, Artak Davtyan said: "All citizens of the Republic of Armenia have that right. If Vardan Oskanyan has the desire and calculates his strengths correctly, that is his and his party's right."
