Press release from the Press Center of the RA National Security Service

On 25 May 2012, the investigative department of the RA National Security Service instigated a criminal case in relation to the case of money laundering under the elements of Article 190 (3) (1) of the RA Criminal Code.

The NSS is carrying out a preliminary investigation into the de facto sale of 100% of shares (nearly 2,000,000 dollars) of Huntsman Building Products Ltd. established in the Republic of Armenia and belonging to Polymer Materials and Huntsman International corporations registered in the United States, but not presenting the transaction to the taxing authority as a result of wrong formulations in the contract, not fulfilling the possible taxing duties, not gearing the nearly 1,135,000 dollars from that sum left in the Republic of Armenia upon the desire of the American side and foreseen exclusively for charity toward benevolent acts and not using it, transferring that sum to the accounts of founding President of Civilitas Foundation Vardan Oskanyan and member of the board of trustees of that Foundation Tigran Karapetyan, as well as illegally using a part of the sums for personal goals.

In addition, Civilitas Foundation, breaching the demands stated in its charter and the existing legislation for 2011, has not submitted a report on the financial sources and sums used in the fiscal year, including the 2,000,000 dollars allocated for charity by Polymer Materials and Huntsman International.

The NSS has scheduled taxing inspections, a marketing expert examination, is conducting interrogations and other procedural operations and taking measures to clarify all the facts and conduct an objective and multilateral preliminary investigation into the case.

The preliminary investigation continues.
