US Senator to visit Armenia
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) will visit Armenia on June 1.
The U.S. official is scheduled to meet with Serzh Sargsyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian to discuss regional security and domestic issues. The delegation headed by Senator Durbin will also meet participants of Armenia-Turkey cross-border programs funded by the United States and women political leaders.
In addition to being the second-highest ranking member of the United States Senate, Senator Durbin sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is also a member of the Subcommittee on European Affairs which has jurisdiction over matters concerning the continent of Europe, including the Caucasus. Its responsibilities include the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the European Union, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
