Hovik Abrahamyan as Parliament Speaker
The Executive Body and Political Council of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) today convened a joint sitting.
HHK Spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov said that the party named Hovik Abrahamyan as its candidate for Parliament Speaker. The party also named Hermine Naghdalyan and Eduard Sharmazanov as Parliament Vice-Speakers. They were nominated by HHK Chairman Serzh Sargsyan.
Eduard Sharmazanov said no major changes are expected in the new executive body. The Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) will simply hand its portfolios to the HHK. The Rule of Law (OEK) will also have three portfolios. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Defense Minsiter Seyran Ohanyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian are likely to retain their portfolios.
HHK and OEK are currently signing a new coalition government today.
