HAK Coordinator does not exclude cooperation with BHK
The Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) is politically isolated today, says Levon Zurabyan, Coordinator of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK).
The HAK official does not consider the Country of Law (OEK), HHK's junior partner in the coalition, a real political party.
"The OEK does not exist as such," he said.
The opposition representative says HHK's position weakened after the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) withdrew from the governing coalition.
"Now the Republicans will have to shoulder the whole responsibility. But since the HHK doesn't enjoy public trust, it cannot rule the country," he stressed.
Zurabyan does not exclude HAK's possible cooperation with the BHK and reminds that [HAK Leader] Levon Ter-Petrosyan has spoken about it.
"During the elections, we cooperated with the BHK within the framework of a joint inter-party headquarters which was tasked to ensure public control during the May 6 vote," said Zurabyan.
He excludes [Armenian second President] Robert Koachryan's intervention in the BHK's decision.
The HAK coordinator finds it difficult to say whether the BHK will become an oppositional force or not.
"Without government portfolios BHK is a classical opposition, but it is up to the party to decide whether to take the posture of a true oppositionist or not," Zurabyan concluded.
