Museums will be open till midnight
Art lovers will have a unique opportunity in May to observe and admire the unique works in Armenian museums for two days.
This year Armenia is celebrating Museum Night on May 19 - the day following the International Museum Day (IMD). This year, the events will be dedicated to the Yerevan World Capital of Book 2012 and 500th anniversary of Armenia's typography.
Armenia will join the celebration for the eighth time, offering free admission to more than 63 museums across the country. Cultural hotspots in the country will be open till midnight on May 19.
International Museum Day has been celebrated on or around May 18th every year since 1977. It was created to raise public awareness of museums and the issues they face. It is organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), an organization dedicated to representing museums and museum professionals around the world, which is headquartered in Paris. ICOM proclaimed this year's theme, "Museums in a Changing World: New Challenges, New Inspirations."
