"We missed the opportunity to introduce systematic changes"
The Democratic Party of Armenia (HDK) expresses its gratitude to all those citizens who realized the necessity and inevitability of changes and cast their votes in favour of the HDK.
"We regret to say that the 2012 parliamentary elections confirmed the predictions: most of the voters went to the polls, ignoring the programs of the political parties. Moreover, the authorities failed to fulfill their declared pre-election pledges to hold free and democratic elections. The widespread use of government resources and large-scale bribery converted the nature of political and ideological struggle.
At the same time the party regrets that a significant part of the public missed the opportunity of introducing systematic changes and putting the country on the right path of development.
The HDK expresses it concerns over an ‘infectious' phenomenon - the perception of deeming elections as a favorable deal of selling and buying votes, which has become a major threat overhanging the country and its security.
The illogical reality, that aggravated and impoverished voters re-elected their tormentors solely to earn their daily bread, should be a matter of serious concerns for the authorities. Otherwise, they will face the bitter reality when a more powerful force comes into the arena and gives more electoral bribes," the party said in a statement.
