HHK needs strong opposition
Today we have a unique chance to create an ideological coalition, which will have a strong opposition, Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Samvel Nikoyan told journalists on Wednesday.
He stressed that a strong opposition is a guarantee for progress and serious changes in every country.
Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Head of the Republican faction Galust Sahakyan says a coalition is not an end in itself.
"The more political forces cooperate together, the more stability we will have. Besides, they will be able to keep their pre-election pledges," he stressed.
Asked whether the HHK may give the post of the prime minister to the Prosperous Party of Armenia who is the second largest party in the national Assembly , Mr Sahakyan said, "Winners never yield anything, if, of course, the parties have not achieved an agreement as a result of political developments. Political processes show that a leader must enjoy the sympathy of people. This one people understood that we [Republicans] are the best."
HHK representative Davit Harutyunyan says these elections were significantly different from the previous ones. Saying that nothing is excluded in politics, the HHK member theoretically found it possible that the HHK cooperates with the HAK (Armenian National Congress), though in practice, he found it less possible.
HHK's coalition with the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) is a separate topic for discussion, he said in conclusion.
