Women hinder Safaryan's campaign meeting in Avan district
The campaign meeting of Stepan Safaryan, a deputy candidate from the opposition Heritage party, has been hindered in Yerevan's Avan district.
As Safaryan told A1+, a group of women approached him, saying that the deputy need not continue his meetings in the district as they had already decided which candidate to vote for during the upcoming parliamentary elections.
"These were blabbermouth women who continually urged me to leave their district," said Mr Safaryan.
Soon, children ‘came up to help,' riding bicycles and vociferating, ‘Ruben Hayrapetyan.' As soon as the activists finished their work and were about to leave the district, they were approached by two middle-aged men, who tore election booklets and threw them on the ground.
Safaryan, alleges that one of the men was a cousin of the Republican candidate Ruben Hayrapetyan, while the other works in the local district administration.
Stepan Safaryan has already filed a report to the police.
Three candidates are running in this single-mandate constituency - Stepan Safaryan (Heritage party), Ruben Hayrapetyan (Republican Party of Armenia) and Gayane Arustamyan (opposition alliance Armenian National Congress).
