Armenian Genocide victims commemorated in Syria
A holy liturgy and a requiem mass were served in St. Sarkis Church in Damascus, Syria, in annual remembrance of the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Ottoman Empire during World War I. The participants of the event later headed to the local Armenian cemetery where Armenia's Ambassador to Syria Arshak Poladyan and the embassy staff put flowers at the memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims.
A number of Syrian Armenians, public figures and journalists participated in the ceremony.
On the same day, heads of the three Armenian communities of Syria and heads of parties and unions visited the Armenian Embassy and left notes in the Remembrance Book, RA MFA press service reports.
