“We have overcome psychology of being victims”
The political parties participating in the elections for the National Assembly today paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
The leaders of the political parties joining the Armenian National Congress (HAK) visited the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide memorial complex together to pay tribute to the 1.5 million victims. However, HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan wasn't able to visit the memorial complex due to poor health conditions.
HAK coordinator Levon Zurabyan said "overcoming the psychology of the victim thanks to the victorious Karabakh war" was a great achievement for the Armenians.
Leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisian is an inheritor of an Armenian Genocide survivor and says the Republic of Armenia is the first that plays a huge role in international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
"We have to become a strong, legal, constitutional and democratic country."
Leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Gagik Tsarukyan also paid tribute to the victims at Tsitsernakaberd, but left shortly after without answering journalists' questions.
Leader of the United Armenians Party Ruben Avagyan transmitted what he had to say: "Our future generation has to realize that there is no present without the past, and there is on future without the present and the past."
