Stops 40-day hunger strike
Ex-candidate for mayor of Astrakhan Oleg Shein today stopped his hunger strike that had lasted for 40 days.
The political figure ended the hunger strike after his supporters were released a week ago, reports the BBC.
"I just received a call from the court telling me that the last of my friends had been released. I now declare the end of my hunger strike," wrote Shein in his blog called "Live Book".
After the Marh 4 mayor elections in Astrakhan, mayor candidate Oleg Shein declared a hunger strike with the demand that the Central Electoral Commission of the Russian Federation review the results of the vote.
