Deputy candidate running at precinct N 34, Head of the Shirak football team, member of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Arman Sahakyan and the team led by Mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan supporting Sahakyan had a meeting with voters at the Dramatic Theater in Gyumri yesterday.

According to "Asbarez", before the meeting, the theater's lights suddenly went out. People could hear the voice of the mayor, who also called on the gathered not to panic. Seconds later, the lights came back and Arman Sahakyan was given the floor to speak.

Addressing citizens of Gyumri, the deputy candidate said:

"Whereas Gyumri is your native city, it is my homeland," said Sahakyan and rushed to add that "the other residential areas in Armenia were his homeland as well". He expressed certainty that by having a friend like Vardan Ghukasyan, he would be able to help accomplish the citizens' goals.

In his speech, Vardan Ghukasysan mentioned: "As your mayor, I tell you that we shouldn't exaggerate Yerevan and make it so that others communities provide support. You can see how much the President supports the provinces. In a time of crisis, the government is providing 250 million dollars for home construction. The building of the pedagogical institute is under construction and will be ready in two to three years."

The mayor reminded voters that 10,000 votes had been stolen from citizens of Gyumri in the previous state elections.
As for Arman Sahakyan, the mayor told "Asbarez" that if he didn't do something for the city, he would become the city's first enemy. "Instead of paying money for a mandate, Arman could spend that money in Yerevan, but he has come here."
