Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan posted a statement on his Facebook page a short while ago.

"Dear Armenians on Facebook,

The decree that I issued today sparked great interest.

I have been receiving many questions, letters, phone calls and notices from students and alumni, employees and other citizens.

I thank you all for your support.

At the same time, there are also questions that are doubtful, troubling and questions that I disagree with.
Leaving sentimentality aside, I would like to inform the following:

1. The news that Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov will be closed down is absurd.
2. No student will be harmed by all this.
3. This year's graduates will receive their diplomas.
4. No former alumnus needs to worry about a wrong profession in the diploma.
5. S. Zolyan has been dismissed from office within the framework of the existing RA legislation. We are ready to present the details in court.
6. There is no political subtext to this matter, but some political circles, as well as oriented and politicized mass media outlets are trying to speculate this.

P.S. I respect S. Zolyan's abilities and merit, and I regret to see this behavior that is not characteristic of an Armenian intellectual like him.

There are no people working with privileges for me.
There is a state, there are laws and there are citizens of the Republic of Armenia.

With respect,

A.Ashotyan"
