Sharmazanov’s response to Aliyev
Vice-Chairman of the RA National Assembly Eduard Sharmazanov has commented on the statement that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during a government session held in Baku yesterday. Aliyev particularly said there would come a day when the Azeri flag would wave in Stepanakert and Shushi.
In regard to this, Sharmazanov said:
"First, Azerbaijan has to put an end to the arms race and military rhetoric. Secondly, the Azeri society has to be ready for peace, not war.
Thirdly, if Aliyev junior would really like to see the Azeri flag in Stepanakert, then there is only one way, and that is the establishment of diplomatic relations with the independent republic of Artsakh, after which the flag of the independent republic of Artsakh will wave on the building of the NKR Embassy in Baku, and the Azeri flag can wave on the building of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Stepanakert. I think sooner or later the country east of Artsakh will realize that there is no alternative to international recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic."
