Police on Gyumri murder case
The future son-in-law of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, Karen Yesayan, was found dead in his car on Thursday evening.
Lilit Aghekyan, a spokesperson for the Gyumri Mayor's Office, says they learnt about the murder from news sites.
"The news came as a shock to me. The whole city is stunned. I knew that the engagement was due to take place on April 12. At this moment I cannot say anything definite because I myself learnt about the tragedy from media outlets," she said.
The press department of the Armenian police confirmed the information, saying Karen Yesayan was reported missing since 5 o'clock, April 12. According to the reports, Karen drew in an unknown direction after taking his Mercedes car from a local carwash.
The car with Yesayan's dead body was found at about 8:10 p.m. in the vicinity of Mother Armenia statue in Gyumri. Yesayan reportedly died of a gunshot wound to his head.
The police are still looking into the matter.
