Opposition candidate urges to ensure equal footing for candidates
The campaign headquarters of opposition candidate Vladimir Karapetyan, who is running for the May 6 parliamentary elections in constituency #2, has issued a statement.
"In order to post a campaign poster, on April 6, 2012, Vladimir Karapetyan signed a contract with EGA Ltd and made the appropriate payment. The sides reached a verbal agreement that the poster be placed on a company's panel in Nor Nork district which has not be done to date. In an effort to justify the non-fulfillment of the contract, the company said the provision had not been agreed upon with the Mayor's Office though there is no mention about it in the contract.
V. Karapertyan personally reported the incident to the chairman of the territorial election commission #2, requesting him to ensure equal footing for all candidates," the headquarters said viewing it as a breach of Article 20 (point 1) of the country's Electoral Code.
"With an attempt to pressurize a private company, our state bodies are trying to create unequal conditions for the candidates of the Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) and opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK)," reads the statement.
Vladimir Karapetyan's contender in the constituency is Republican Samvel Farmanyan.
