New statement of Rector of Yerevan State Linguistic University after Brusov, Suren Zolyan:

"In the past couple of days, different people and mass media outlets have been making an attempt to speculate and politicize the situation regarding the decree that RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan issued on declaring a strict warning for not fulfilling my duties properly-a decree that was issued with several violations of the law.

Those people and the mass media are probably doing that in order to distract attention from the illegitimacy of the content in the decree and to move the issue from the legal sphere.

In this sense, I take responsibility and declare that the situation created as a result of the illegitimate decree issued by the minister is merely of a working nature and can't be linked to any political process or party.

I have great working relations with almost all the main political parties participating in the election campaign.

To put an end to possible speculations, I would like to emphasize my deep respect to the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), among my many friends who are members of the party, especially leader of the party, RA President Serzh Sargsyan. I have been Serzh Sargsyan's proxy during the presidential elections.

I have appealed to the RA Prime Minister and the courts to dispute the legitimacy of the minister's decree and I will refrain from making additional commentaries. I expect the same from the minister, at least until the end of the elections.

At the same time, I welcome Mr. Ashotyan's willingness to show up to court and try "to prove that the policy led by the Ministry of Education is within the framework of defending the RA legislation".

My second proposal is based on Mr. Ashotyan's view that I am trying to "conceal the lack of work with personal offense".

I suggest we agree in advance that if the court finds who the "lacking worker" is, then that person will be obliged not to hold an administrative or representative office.

I will be obliged to return to my job as a professor and researcher with the hope that Mr. Ashotyan will finally be involved in medicine."
