NA elections to kick off on April 27
For the first time ever, Armenians living abroad will be able to participate in the Armenian parliamentary elections online.
The Central Electoral Commission today submitted the guidelines for the online vote to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The list of online voters includes the voters passing through diplomatic service at embassies and consulates of the Republic of Armenia and their families living with them abroad, who are members that have the right to vote. A total of 238 citizens of the Republic of Armenia living abroad will participate in the NA elections.
The vote will start on April 27 and will end on May 1.
Why isn't the online vote taking place on the day of the actual elections, May 6?
"It is very easy to have an influence on a person in a day," said CEC President Tigran Mukuchya in response to the question.
The CEC rejected four applications, the authors of which hadn't shown up to the Central Electoral Commission today.
Two non-governmental organizations had appealed for monitoring the elections. Citizen of Armenia Ruben Torosyan demands that the CEC stop the election campaign on H1 Armenian Public Television since the election campaign hasn't been officially launched.
The CEC also rejected deputy candidate Hakob Hakobyan's appeal to not register deputy Seyran Saroyan as a deputy through the majoritarian electoral order at precinct N 19.
