10 prosecutors included in special group
On March 23, the RA Prosecutor General issued a decree on establishing a working group to accept communiqués on electoral violations, as well as prosecutors' control of registration and discussions.
The group includes 10 prosecutors that will be coordinated by RA Deputy Prosecutor General Aram Tamazyan.
This is what RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan informed today during a meeting with the delegation led by Head of the OSCE/ODIHR observatory mission Radmila Shekerinskaya.
"The working group will not only control the registration and discussion of the communiqués, but will also monitor the press releases by turning the press releases on electoral violations containing elements of crimes into a matter of debate," mentioned Hovsepyan, adding that citizens have to be sure that their alarms about crimes turn into a topic for debate.
We mention that there are 12 crimes for electoral processes prescribed by the RA Criminal Code.
Head of the observatory mission R. Shekerinskaya highly appreciated the experience transferred to the prosecutor's office and voiced hope that that would truly ensure responses to possible complaints regarding electoral violations.
