The Constitutional Council of France recognized the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial as unconstitutional thanks to Turkey's lobbying.

"The Turkish government spent nearly 100 million dollars on that over the past year," said Chairman of the Armenian National Committee Office in France Hrach Varjabedian, who is in Yerevan.

The French-Armenian community also sees the Armenian government's passivity in this.

"Armenia should adopt a more aggressive and more emphasized policy on Turkey."

The French-Armenians are convinced that France will pass the law criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial, even if the oppositionist Francois Oland is elected president.

On January 23, with 127 for and 86 against, the French Senate passed the bill criminalizing Armenian Genocide denial, but the French Constitutional Council recognized it as unconstitutional and prevented its entry into force.
